Latest Artwork

My latest art work is connecting a number of motifs with the symbols of drought.

In this work the theme of drought is predominant and the symbols of a dry claypan, sheep carcass, windmill, crow and stranded sheep, all depict the main motifs of this work.

The silver shilling symbolises the wealth generated by the wool industry which reached its zenith in the 1960's.

By positioning the silver shilling on the back of the sheep carcass, the phrase "riding on the sheep's back" takes on a poignant meaning and graphically portrays the decline of the wool industry where the merino ram had become a significant Australian icon
